I hope this blog grows into a sort of Rodney King videotape of dysfunctional graduate education, at least at UCLA and maybe beyond.

Please encourage people who have been screwed over to document it here. The UCLA Slavic Languages department may be worse than some, but it is by no means unique.

I don't see where to read over your blog - I have tried every button on your blog and only the three comments came up - only one of them relevant - posted by plannerovchik. I am very curious to talk about graduate student abuse - I have certainly experienced my fair share. If there are no other comments for some reason - can someone respond and talk a little about their story and what they have experienced in terms of abuse?

If anyone is still reading this blog, come over to ProfWatch and create your own blog about grad student abuse and professor incompetence. It's endemic to graduate education, especially in the social sciences.

Would love to hear from you. - Ryan
